Cold turkey Withdrawal symptoms from seroquel? ? What are the withdrawal symptoms from seroquel,if you only took it for 5 or 6 days and skipped some days? Will choose best answer! How long will these withdrawal symptoms from seroquel last?

greeneyes replied: "Hi Olivia, If your GP etc. prescribed Seroquel for you, I would suggest that you go back to him/her. I have made the mistake of starting medication and not wanting to give it time to work then come off it immediately and it is not a good thing to do I know please let your GP or whoever prescribed it for you. I am giving you the name of the site than will give you more information, take care, I know what messing with s. can be like. "

Dr Know-It-All replied: "I've been on Seroquel for years, and if I miss a single dose I can't sleep. This happens when I run out and forget to get some more, and the chemist has closed for the day. I just lie on my back with a million thoughts racing through my head. It's not a withdrawal symptom per se, because I only started taking it when I started having trouble sleeping."

Seroquel withdrawal symptoms? Migraines? I've been on 75mg of Seroquel for almost 2 months. I take 25mg in the morning, and 50mg right before bed, to help with mild anxiety and problems sleeping due to depression. I ran out of my last pre ion of Seroquel a few days ago, but when I tried to get it refilled, I was told it had expired. I've been having a hell of a time getting in touch with my psychiatrist since then, so I haven't taken any Seroquel in 2-3 days. I know it's not a good idea to go off any of these meds cold turkey, but I really don't have a choice at this point. I'm not trying to quit, just waiting for a new pre ion. Anyway, I had been holding up okay without it, just a little more high-strung and anxious than I had been lately, but nothing that got in the way of my everyday life. However, last night I lost the peripheral vision in my left eye, followed by a migraine an hour later. I'm not prone to migraines. Could it be Seroquel withdrawal, or just stress? I just found out yesterday that my doctor had a family emergency and is out of town. His secretary has been trying to get in touch with him to call in pre ions for all his patients, but I don't know if he has yet. I'm going to try to call again today. I agree that, in normal circumstances, I should probably try to find another doctor. But alas, I am a poor college student, and this is the on-campus (read:FREE) psychiatrist. I really can't go to anyone else. But thanks, if this was a normal situation with someone who had money, that'd be great advice.

Bob replied: "It is Seoul withdrawal. You need to call the doc again and even make a nuisance of yourself if necessary to get back on it. Your doc should be able to return your call on something like this right away. Be sure to tell the person on the phone what is happening. They might be able to get you in more quickly or at least to get the Rx called in right away. If you can't get the doc during the day, call in the evening and they'll be paged. This sometimes does better to get their attention. If you doctor or whomever is covering call for him/her can't be bothered to return your call within 24 hours, find another doctor immediately!"

Beautiful replied: "I can relate to you, I also take 50mgs of seroquel to help me sleep. Sounds like you are having definet withdrawls. When I try to skip a night without mine I get headaches as well. Hopefully you can get your pre ion soon."

withdrawal symptoms from seroquel? Will choose best answer!? What are the withdrawal symptoms from seroquel,if you only took it for 5 or 6 days and skipped some days? Stopped it cold turkey!

Pick A Winner replied: "I took 900mg for 5 years straight. When I stopped I had no ill effects."

canada_winnipeg_man replied: "Stopping Seroquel incorrectly can adversely affect many areas of the body. Gradual dose reduction (also known as tapering), combined with specific nutritional support is recommended to help the body and brain during withdrawal.78% of Seroquel users will experience withdrawal symptoms. Stopping taking seroquel may cause discontinuation effects, including: Agitation, anorexia, anxiety, confusion coordination impairment, diarrhoea dizziness, dry mouth, dysphoric mood fasciculation (muscular twitching) fatigue, headaches, hypomania insomnia, nausea, nervousness nightmares, sensory disturbances (including shock-like electrical sensations) somnolence (drowsiness) sweating, tremor, vertigo, vomiting. In addition, one very rare side effect, which seroquel 's manufacturer calls "withdrawal syndrome", is that the patient, once acclimatized to seroquel , is unable to discontinue taking the drug. With this discontinuation effect apparently permanent, the patient is "hooked for life"! It is best to consult a physician before discontinuing Seroquel So make your first move. Dont wait too long before it get worse. You are not alone, there is help around the corner, never give up. Take care always! MPLF."

How long does seroquel withdrawal last after 6 years of taking it and then properly weaning off of it? I've been taking seroquel and other medications for about 6 years now and have been made horribly sick by them. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 15 due to a family history but I never had any symptoms other than mild depression. After being reevaluated, the doctors realized that they misdiagnosed me. I've been off of all of my other medicines for over a year but seroquel has been the worst to get rid of. My doses have been halved for about 2 months and each new does was taken for two weeks. I've been off of it for a week and I'm still having all kinds of withdrawal symptoms (jaw clenching, fever, body aches, interrupted sleep, muscle spasms, stomach trouble, itchiness...you name it.) How long does this usually last? I've been told that since I've been on it for so long the withdrawal might be more difficult. I wish the doctors would have investigated more instead of being so quick to put me on all of this medicine.

hopesclan replied: "It depends on the dosage. I was on 1200 mgs for 5 years and the withdrawal was hell. I did it in 6 weeks in a hospital--well I got down to 100 ml and the last but took about 2 months. It was much more difficult or maybe it was because I had to deal with life at the same time. What I can tell you is that it was worth it. I was no longer a walking zombie, the world seemed to come alive! I am sorry about your misdiagnosis. That was also my issue and it still pisses me off that I wasted so many years when I could have gotten proper help to get better."

Seroquel Withdrawal? I've been taking 50mg of Seroquel for a year now (bipolar II), and I've been doing very well for a few months. My psych is having me come off of the stuff, so now I'm only taking 25mg. It's been a little over a week since I started only 25mg. I've felt like I've had more energy most of the time and I feel very moody. Today (day 8) I've felt rather depressed. I was just talking to my boyfriend and was very cheerful, and then suddenly I made a comment that was a little mean and apologized. After getting off the phone, I cried and cried. Also, my stomach has been bothering me a lot. Could these be symptoms of withdrawal (would I still be having withdrawal a week later, after only having come down 25mg?)? I'm afraid I'm showing bipolar symptoms again.

Alex62 replied: "I'm doing the same for the same illness, only coming down from 100mg. I'm now at 50mg. My differences are that I am more awake during the day (yeah!) and having a little more difficulty sleeping. No BP symptoms. Unfortunately, what you're describing sounds like BP symptoms, either because Seroquel at 50mg was keeping them in check (not sure that could be enough) or your other meds need to be adjusted. Sorry. Maybe just going back up on Seroquel will resolve it. Call your doctor."

yankidee_1 replied: "I would definitely bring this to the doctor's attention however having bipolar for many years you are probably already aware of the fact that these are classic symptoms of your disease good luck and God bless..If would help take a calendar and record your behavior and the dose of medication that your on at hat particular time"

Seroquel: Are flu-like symptoms possible with withdrawal? Please help! I am stopping Seroquel under the supervision of my psychiatrist (MD). I am experiencing hot flashes, dizzyness and a flu-like tingle throughout my body, as well as insomnia. I have been on 400 mg's per day for nearly a year (for Bipolar I disorder). I also take Lamictal(anti-convulsive) as a preventive measure for severe depression. I am stopping Seroquel in favour of Lithium at my shrink's advice, to control mood swings/suicidal ideation. Has anyone experienced similar unpleasant withdrawal effects from Seroquel? I am f*cking miserable here.

Jayme c replied: "I had HORRIBLE recations to seroquel... I took 200 mg as directed by My doc the first time.... It completely knocked me out, but I woke up a few hours later and tried to make a pizza, I was literally walking into walls (REALLY!!!) and slurring my sppech so bad, it sounded like someone cut my tongue out. I KNEW what I was trying to say, but NO ONE else could understand me! I do know that you should follow your doctors directions, because coming off of this med CAN cause seizures ( even if you're on an anti siezure for depression) Also try calling your pharmacist, I do, for EVERYTHING! Most pharmacies in metro areas have access to the info you are looking for. If you think anything you are experiencing is unusal I wouldn't hesitate to call your doc or go to the hospital, after all you only get ONE body."

Hopeful replied: "Depending on how you are being tapered or even how your body is reacting you can have serious side effects. I would definitely call your Dr. first thing in the morning or if the side effects get worse or are severe tonight then go to your local ER because it is nothing to take lightly. Hope you feel better~"

Imelda S replied: "Oh, my dear friend, I feel for you! I too am on Seroquel and whenever my stupid pharmacist forces me off the drug until my doctor yells at them to refill it for the upteenth time I go through withdrawl. Hot flashes is the worst symptom for me and the insomnia is right up there with it. It is a horrible side effect of being taken off the drug. I am on 300 mg and I can feel it when the drug has left the bloodstream or when it's time to take my daily dose. The magic combo I am on for bipolar and depression is : Depakene, Seroquel, and Celexa. The Depakene is a God send for me b/c the Lamictal wasn't working. It really stabilizes your mood swings and throw in the Celexa for an anti-depressant - you're good to go. The Seroquel is used as anti-anxiety drug for me and trust me it works wonders with the other drugs. Maybe you can suggest the combo I mentioned to your doctor. As for the Seroquel withdrawl I really can understand because almost every fucking month I am yelling for a refill and have gone up to a month w/o help. NEVER get Kaiser!"

Is this a withdrawal side effect from Seroquel? Alright so I went cold turkey on 400mg. While i was sleeping I woke up suddenly from an extreme pain in my lower left leg. It felt as if I had just ran a marathon on that leg. So, would this be involuntary muscle movement (a withdrawal symptom) or could it possibly be something more serious?

Blether T replied: "Its probably withdrawal from seroquel. I stopped cold turkey too and i was on 900mg a day. I was in such pain for almost 2 weeks it took me to stop having pain. I couldn't sleep either, but in the end it was worth it. Good luck."

PsychDoc replied: "Seroquel (or Quetiapine) does not generally present with withdrawal symptoms. I would ask you to look for symptoms of increased temperature, agitation, palpitations and increasing muscle stiffness, all of which suggest a condition known as NMS or neuroleptic malignant syndrome, which requires urgent management. Otherwise these seem to be just muscle contractions which are part of the EPS (Extrapyramidal symptoms), for which your doctor can prescripe anticholinergics."

How long does Seroquel withdrawal last? I am bipolar. I've been on Seroquel for about 1 1/2 years. At the highest dosage I was taking 1400 mg a night to sleep. I've been weening myself off it along with my doctors help. I've gone from 1400 mg a night to 100 mg. I am ready to be off of this medicine. I've gained 50lbs on it, and it doesn't matter whether I'm taking 1400mg or 100mg i am still gaining weight and feel drunk when trying to wake up. When I try to stop taking it I have terrible insomnia. My shoulder muscles ball up and throb very painfully so much that I can't think straight. My head hurts, I can't concentrate and I'm tired of it. I want it to stop. How long will it take for these withdrawal symptoms to stop?

Amin K replied: "Your doctor would be the one whom you should ask regarding the length of time it will take to fully withdrawal from Seroquel. Everyone's system is different from one another and the only one who knows how you are reacting to the withdrawal is the doctor who is helping you to get off of it as you have been doing. If you are having trouble sleeping when attempting to totally remove it from your drug regimen tell your doctor and he or she can possibly let you know of something that will help you to sleep while just getting off the Seroquel."

Coming off Seroquel and going on Abilify??? does anyone have experience with this change? Does Seroquel have withdrawal symptoms? How has abilify affected you?

La-Te-Da replied: "Abilify is suppose to be the new miracle drug b/c it has little or no side effects such as the other psychotropic meds. No weight gain, no drooling, no bed wetting etc. You need to make sure you increase your Abilify gradually but I have seen in some cases that Abilify doesn't work and the patient has to go back to other medications. It might take a while to get into your system also. You may experience dry mouth but other side effects are rare. Good luck! Seroquel has little or no withdrawal symptoms."

riptide_71 replied: "I tired this and Abilify caused me so much anxiety, I could not function. It was horrible. I wanted to punch people out. I went back on the Seroquel. Take it slow and hopefully it will work for you. Abilify is supposed to be weight-neutral."
