WhaWoke up with a migraine will maxalt help at all? or not now that I have a migraine.? thankyou for your time in advance. I woke up with migraine and I have some samples of Maxalt will they help at all that I already have a migraine or simply do nothing?

Chrissy d replied: "I get migrains every second day or so do to a medical complication. Maxalt RPD will only work when you are GETTING a migrain. it wont stop it when it has taken its course. Try talking some Tyenal Migrain and going into a dark place and sleeping. Maxalt only helps when you are getting it. but if the pain is unbarible Go to your local EM and get a needle for it."

Why isn't the Maxalt-MLT and Naproxen I take working to relieve my migraine? I've had the same migraine for a week. I take the medications exactly how the doctor prescribed, but nothing is helping. I'm a student and mid-terms are this week. It's hard for me to concentrate and I can't live like this forever. Please help me. I have tried Advil, Tylenol, and Excedrin. Nothing is working.

Pharmacy Student replied: "Have you identified any of the triggers? that is paramount. Usually certain types of food, smells etc. Identifying the trigger is the most important intervention that can be done. Assuming that doesn't work, I wouldn't take the naproxen. Look for an OTC product called Excedrin migraine (contains caffeine, aspirin and tylenol I think), the caffeine works wonders. There are some other medications that can help, but they all have side-effects: Neurontin - very sedating Certain anticonvulsants (seizure medications) have been shown to help, but they are last-ditch Beta-blockers help but for young people they feel weird to be on because they lower your heart rate."

This drug is not a "migraine" medication per se but you can take it with great results even after the migraine has begun. The only side effect for me is drowsiness. Lindsey Faith replied: "I took maxalt for a while after I did imitrex, imitrex injections, relpax, and others. Maxalt is also given to seizure patients. It really worked for a while with no noticeable side effects and then like all the rest it stopped working. I suggest asking your doctor about innopran which is a preventative migraine medicine. I was having like 2 major migraines a week and now I only have them like once a month. It is the most fabulous medicine I have ever had and I couldn't recommend a better one for migraines. It has literally changed my life. I know that's corny but it has. Good luck!"

dbgyog replied: "There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic. Acidity, WORRY, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. Is there a higher risk of pregnancy when taking Maxalt? Someone told me that they thought, when taking Maxalt (migraine pre ion), that you were supposed to use extra birth control. Is this true? Does it weaken birth control pills? Or is this all a bunch of crap I was told?

Can a chiropractor really help resolve migraine headaches? My wife has had migraine headaches for 30 years. Maxalt pills are what help her, but it only lessens the pain, and it makes her very woozy and with no energy. Would it be worth it to go see a chiropractor to see if they can find a pinched nerve or something? Thanks!

Michael M replied: "Really depends on how bad the pain is and where is it. also how long she had it. But yes, chiropractor specialize in that sort of thing because back problems can also lead to headaches."

katinthehatcomesback replied: "I went to a chiropractor and he helped me. I wouldn't let him torque my neck but I let him pull it and stretch it. Also he held my head in his hands and sort of did this "snake dance" with it. He also used the activator on my neck. I only had to go a few times and now I only get migraines about once in a few months. Excedrin Back and Body is only aspirin and tylenol mixed without caffeine and three of those work if I take them early. I found out I was sensitive to msg and aspartame, asulfame k and phenylalanine. My son inherited this, too. We quit eating or drinking all items containing these and the migraines almost never come."

Maxalt.. migraines.. information? hello i've had migraines for 4 years. I am now 18. I got some money back from financial aid.. i support myself etc. my parents nor i have insurance.. so, i woke up had a migraine and i said to myself i cannot take this anymore.. so i went to the doctor.. they gave me an imitrex injection (AMAZING!) .. and he gave me samples of Maxalt. he was like i know you dont have insurance and i can just give you free samples, and a free trial.. if maxalt works well and u start to run out just call us and i'll give you more free samples, which was nice. Has anyone tried Maxalt, and if so, can you give me any information? Thank you! :)

mcboo replied: "I have had migraines for 3 years and I am 21 years old. I am prescribed Maxalt and it's amazing. I have the tablets that you let melt in your mouth. Within ten minutes of taking one my migraine is gone and I don't feel any side effects, like sleepiness, therefore I can still go about my day."

Inge replied: "Maxaalt Didn't work very well for me. So for a prophylactic I was prescribed Topamax . I used Zomig for any stray migraines that broke through Ive been Migraine free for 1.5 years and they used to be unwelcome visitors 4 -6 times per month. I also go loads of free samples from my Doc. Does anyone else take Maxalt MLT for migraines? Does it give you any weird side efffects? The two times I have taken it, it has made me feel strange. It makes my jaws really heavy and my head feel like it has a cramp or something anyone else have this?

What is a good migraine medication that is comparable to Topamax, without the side effects? I had been taking Topamax for migraines. I was on 400mg a day and it helped really well, but recently found I have a kidney stone due to using Topamax so I am trying to find a different med. I can take for it. For those of you that don't know, Topamax is used to prevent migraines, not to help with the pain. If anyone has personal experience I would prefer your answer. I don't want answers like imitrex, maxalt, zomig, as these are to treat the pain after you have gotten a migraine. I want an answer for a med to prevent the migraines. Thanks in advance.

Are there any similarities between hallucinogens and triptan anti-migraine meds? I read that Sumatriptan is chemically related to LSD. Also, I have previously noticed frightening closed-eye visuals after taking a triptan called "Maxalt" shortly after getting a bad migraine.

Does anyone else get jaw pain with a migraine? I'm getting migraines now everyday and the only thing to help is Maxalt, but the doc doesn't like to prescribe that much of the medication. I also get jaw pain before and during the migraine. Anyone else have this problem? If you do, what do you do for it?

Brian H replied: "For your jaw pain you might want to see a dentist because you could have TMJ (locked jaw) which could be why you have migraines."

I got chronic migraines, ringing in the ears, back pain and jaw pain/swelling that was ruining my life a couple years ago. I was diagnosed with TMJ disorder. I had to go out on my own and find a true specialist to help with the problem, as my dentist and primary-care doctor did not know what to do and did not seem to take it very seriously.
